New experimental incubator space at Fablab RUC
Fablab RUC has created a new initiative for entrepreneurs and incubators at Roskilde University. Our mission is to experiment with synergies between education, makermovements and entrepreneurs on the folloing premises:
- To create a more fluid connection between students and entrepreneurs.
- To inspire students by learning for people engaged with real world projects.
- To enable small entrepreneurs to utilize the possibilities coming from the student projects and the fablab.
- To give the entrepreneurs access to the Fablab tools and machines while they are in a prototyping/development phase.
The first project is already ready to move in. Umake is a two-man design agency that works with interactive experiences and installations. They create interactive experiences, art, and workshops. Their design activity is typically grounded in an exploratory study of technology, context, and people. They are both associated with Roskilde University as external teaching assistants. Together they teach Humtek workshop Interactive Experience Production - a practical-based workshop where students do exercises and work with the production of interactive experiences through introduction to interactive technology and design methods.
