RF2024: POEM- POLE 2.0

A pole that generates poems with the help of interaction from festivalgoers.

When the festivalgoers push the buttons mounted on the pole, a set of LEDs will illuminate. The more buttons pressed, the more light and life will strobe from the installation.

When the installation is awakened,

our software sends a request to ChatGPT with instructions to create a poem alongside an image inspired by the poem.

The poems is displayed on a recycled computer monitor while the complete set of poem and image can be found on a website. The website can be reached by scanning QR-codes on the pole.

The website invites people to share their generated memory and hopefully creates a memory to be recollected by the festivalgoers - sparking the emotions felt in that very moment.

PoemPole anno 2023 did not fulfil our goal of reach, we were not content with the extent of people interacting and experiencing the voice of Mother Earth. Through facilitating our installation on a website, we aim to avoid one of the downsides of PoemPole 1.0. Last year, we printed our poems, and we wish to avoid wasting paper. Furthermore, posting the poems on internet will provide the opportunity for people to make longer-lasting memories that they can always look back on.
