BUILDING A GLOBAL AND DECENTRALIZED INTERNET OF THINGS

FabLab RUC invites you to

The Things Network and Roskilde community kickoff

Tuesday 05 February 2019, 3pm-4.30pm

At FabLab RUC - building 4.0, Roskilde University, Universitetsvej 1, 4000 Roskilde

The Things Network (TTN) is a global movement with the mission to build a decentralized, open, and crowdsourced Internet of Things data network, owned and operated by its users. Building one’s own independent network, rather than having to pay an operator for IoT connectivity, provides interesting opportunities and new models for communities, and companies of all sizes alike.

In Denmark, there are already TTN communities in cities as Copenhagen, Alborg, Esbjerg and Aarhus. We, at FabLab RUC, want to expand the network to the area of Roskilde and want to invite companies, institutions, enthusiasts, activists that live or work around Roskilde to start a community with us.

We have invited Sebastian Büttrich, a core member of the Copenhagen community to give an inspirational talk about the The Things Network and share his experiences with the LoRaWan.
Sebastian is Research Lab Manager at IT University and Network Developer at NSRC.org.

We will learn about IoT networking, applications, use cases, and discuss the various possibilities around The Things Network and LoRaWan.
If you don’t have any connection to Roskilde but are curious about TTN and LoRaWan you are also very welcome to join the event.

After the official program, we will provide modules and sensors for those interested in staying and building a device which connects to TTN via LoRa. Just remember to bring your own laptop.
